Applied Color & Design Theory

Level 1 (beginner)

In the Applied Color & Design Theory course, students learn the theory of color and design and its application to design-related fields. Exploration of cultural heritage and psychological implications of design is also included.

Displayed works include Color and Design Exercises completed by students through hands-on exploration of line, hue, value, and chroma. Students created a Line Study using different types of lines and compositional techniques; mixed the three primary pigments to match twelve selected Color-aid samples for the Color Wheel; mixed hues with black and white pigments to create gradations for the Value Study; and used complementary colors for the Neutralization Exercise. All exercises were presented as creative board-mounted compositions.
